A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) the SightSavers in conjunction with the Kebbi State Ministry of Health early in the week held a street-to-street walk to commemorate this year’s World Neglected Tropical Diseases Day with activities.
The NGO while addressing a press conference to round up the activities call called on the people of the state to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by SightSaver to ensure regular examination of their sight.
In his speech at the press conference, the State Commissioner for Health, Tunisia Musa Ismail represented by the Director of Pharmaceuticals, Musa Kakale stated that the theme of this year’s celebration is, to unite, act and eliminate.
Pointing out that the theme is also geared towards drawing attention to issues of neglected tropical diseases, the suffering they caused and garnering support for their control.
Also in her speech, the programme officer, SightSaver Kebbi State, Mrs Eunice Salamatu Dogo highlighted the achievements recorded by the organisation including various projects and interventions towards the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases in the state.
The assistant Public Health Officer of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Kebbi State, Mrs Ijioma Nworgu who spoke on behalf of WHO State Coordinator, Dr. Bala Nasiru Zurmi appreciates the position of WHO in the state in the commemoration of the 2024 NTD in Kebbi State.
