Fast rising artiste, The Wonderboy of Africa, has lauded the enthusiasm of Nigerian artistes and their quest to be at the top of their game. The artiste spoke to Friday Treat recently, saying, “The Nigerian entertainment industry is not business as usual due to the good music churned out daily and consequently, the rewarding accolades from different quarters of the country and the world in general therefore, serving as a platform of inspiration for others”.
“Nigerian artistes have raised the bar in the music enclave in terms of the beats, lyrics, international collaborations and fantastic videos shot by our indigenous directors. We need to applaud this positive development and keep up with the pace. We are dominating the world with our good music but we need to intensify the love we have for one another. We need to do away with rancour and conflicts so that the Nigerian entertainment industry can be sanitised and together, we speak with one voice which will consequently translate to a better society”
The artiste, whose real names are Moses Oghene Iribeve, graduated from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) and revealed the source of inspiration behind his hit track, ‘Girls dem’, saying, “I love the female gender so much. They support me in all ramifications and hence I thought it wise to appreciate and be thankful to them for all they have been doing”. The importance of the female gender cannot be overemphasized because without a girl child, there can never be a nation. I wrote the song to appreciate, first of all, the mothers, formerly girls, who were able to reproduce the younger ones and build them up in character and behaviour”.
He showered encomium on Nigerian artistes such as 2face, D’banj, P-square, Davido, Wizkid, Tekno, Yung Six etc. for their hard work, resilience, humility in collaboration and the ability to improve performances daily.
