Women group endorses Atiku for President

Published by
A pressure group, women For Nigeria (WFN), has endorsed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for the February 16 presidential election.
The WFN declared the endorsement at the maiden meeting and inauguration of its officers, held on Wednesday, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
The convener of the body, Mrs.Yemi Kolapo, said the group agreed to support the candidature of Atiku based on the decision taken by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
Kolapo who doubles as the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the group which comprises of professionals, market women, traders, artisans, retirees would mobilize women from the SouthWest region for Atiku’s victory at the polls.
She admonished the womenfolk and all  Nigerians alike to rise up in defense of the nation’s democracy.
The convener said, “Enough is enough. We cannot be deceiving ourselves that all is well in Nigeria. Anyone supporting the presidential candidate of APC today is an enemy of this country or a beneficiary of the unrestrained corruption going on beneath the veil of integrity.
“As women, we owe our dear country a duty of knocking on doors and exposing the propaganda of the ruling government as a dangerous one that can further push the Nigerian economy into total disaster. Our First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has said two people are the ones in charge of the nation’s affairs, not her husband.
“We call on these two people to be bold enough to take their party’s expression of interest and nomination forms in 2023. This time, they have missed it. Nigerians will not fold their arms and watch a driver who cannot comprehend what they are saying, or even understand where they are going to, drive them into the ditch. So we have endorsed the candidate that can deliver at this point in time, and that is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“We have been sensitizing ourselves for the task, in line with the CUPP adoption. But, for all other posts, I encourage us to vote ADC all the way.”
