One Balikis Balogun of Checking Point Area, Ilorin, Kwara State, has applied for child custody, feeding and maintenance fee of N50,000 monthly at an Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin.
Balogun prayed the court to impose a monthly allowance on the father of the child and respondent, Ahmed Mabayoje, for feeding and upkeep of their child.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the respondent, who insisted on speaking only through his lawyer, told the court that he was the biological father of the child and that he named their child AbdulKareem, with the consent of his father.
Ajumonbi said that in the interim, subject to the provision of section 61 of Area Court Law, “the respondent had earlier informed the court that he and his father named the child.
“He also told the court that he had been responsible for the mother and child’s welfare before she packed out of his house on October 5.
He added that no Nikkah (Islamic marriage) held between them,” he said.
The judge, thereby, ordered that the respondent should be paid the sum of N7,000 weekly for the feeding and upkeep of their child, who was the product of their cohabitation.
