Woman docked over alleged assault, criminal force

ONE Oputa Beatrice, on Monday, appeared before a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly slapping one ‎Isaac Blessing.

The defendant was docked on charges bordering on criminal force and assault, offences she denied committing.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that Blessing of Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on March 19.

‎Olanipekun said that the defendant slapped Blessing without any provocation and as a result, Blessing sustained severe body pains.‎

He said that the offence contravened Section 265 of the Penal Code.

‎The judge, Mohammed Marafa, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

Marafa adjourned the matter until May 25 for hearing. (NAN)
