A mother of five, Khadija Adam, prayed a Shari’a Court 1 sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, to grant her the custody of all her children from her estranged husband.
The complainant, who spoke through her counsel, M.I Ashiru, also prayed the court to compel her ex-husband, Ishak Ibrahim, to pay the sum of N150,000 as monthly feeding allowance for the five children.
She also claimed that the defendant neglected her during the birth of their last child, failed to pay for the expenses she incurred, and did not care to name the child.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Khadija also prayed the court to order her ex-husband to provide diapers for the said child and accommodation for her to enable her take good care of their children.
The defendant, who was represented by his counsel, I.S. Yahya, denied the allegation that he did not provide for the complainant during childbirth.
He also urged the court to grant her custody of only their youngest child, whom he pledged to give N8,000 monthly for food.
The judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad, adjourned the case.
