Winners of the competition organized by the Kwara State Qur’an Recitation Committee will represent the state in the national Qur’an recitation competition coming up in Kebbi State on December 18, 2024.
The winners emerged at the closing ceremony of the Qur’an competition, which was held at the Ilorin Stadium Complex on Thursday.
Ustaz Haroon Hassan Bolakale is the overall winner of the competition.
Winners of the other categories of the competition are Muhammad Sulaiman, Mariam Issa-Onilu, Jemilat Tijani, Halima Adekanye, Salima Abubakar, Khadija Ibrahim, Hazeema Salahudeen, Taofikat Alafara, Khadija Ajijolakewu, Aisha Shuaib, AbdulLateef Issa, Yusuf Yusuf, and Ali AbdulLateef.
The chairman of the Kwara State Committee on Qur’an Recitation Competition, Alhaji Shehu Abdulgafar, said that the event showcased the winners of first and second positions in all categories of the competition.
He applauded the state government for its support and allocation of land to the committee to establish the Centre for Qur’an Memorization.
The Emir of Ilọrin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, represented by the Balogun Alanamu of Ilọrin, Alhaji Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, hailed the participants for their ability to painstakingly memorize the Qur’an.
The Emir advised the Qur’an memorizers to ensure full usage of the knowledge they have learned for the benefit of mankind.
The guest lecturer, Dr. Mahmud Danjuma, urged parents to ensure the adequate training of their children in both Islamic and Western education to enable them to become good leaders.
He charged Muslims to uphold the Qur’an to help them overcome their challenges.
