We will verify certificates of 25,000 newly recruited teachers in Kaduna ―SUBEB Chairman

THE Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Nasiru Umar, has said the certificates of the newly recruited teachers who are expected to replace the 21,780 disengaged unqualified teachers will be verified in order to fish out fake certificates.

Speaking at a news briefing on the recruitment of teachers and way forward in Kaduna on Thursday, Umar, vowed that there will be no compromise in the ongoing exercise.

He said the data entries and analysis were made and the name of the shortlisted candidate of 24,979 applicants were released and would soon be verified.

The SUBEB boss explained that oral interview for the new teachers was conducted and completed in 36 centres across the State, adding that the exercise was monitored by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, commissioner for education, science and technology as well as the permanent secretary.

Umar added: “The team of the interviewers were five-man committee each. Members were drawn from: Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN-TDP), Education Data Research and Evaluation in Nigeria (EDOREN), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Teachers Service Board (TSB), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Seasoned Educationists.

According to him, the interview covered these areas: General knowledge, personal trait, reading/writing, comprehension and self-expression”

“A technical committee will do the selection of successful candidates to be vetted by the main committee. The list will then be released to the 23 LGEAS for posting to our public primary schools,” Umar said.
