Why we’re dedicated to supporting pregnant women, children — Rotary Club

President Rotary Club of Ibadan, Rotarian Kolawole Shittu Adebisi has revealed reasons why the club gives support to pregnant women and their children.

Adebisi noted that the projects by the club are meant to give support to the government, just as he added that government cannot do it alone.

He said this on Wednesday during the distribution of delivery materials to pregnant women at the Apete Primary Health Center, Apete, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Adebisi said “Rotary as a humanitarian organization gives support to pregnant women and their children during the maternal and health Rotary month of the year “, he added.

According to the president, the maternity and child health project also included the adoption of 50 pregnant women who will be monitored from antenatal, delivery to post-natal.

While he further added that 20 of the pregnant women were selected from Apete Primary Healthcare centre, Apete while 30 others are selected from Omotayo Maternity Hospital, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

“We are here today to distribute delivery materials to pregnant women in a bid to give support to the less privileged who might not have the opportunity to buy the basic materials needed for delivery.

“This is part of our contribution to the community and as well give support to the government just as we all know that the government cannot do it all alone,“ he concluded.

Also speaking with Tribune Online, the officer in charge, Apete Primary Health Center, Adijat Fasasi appreciated the club for the gesture.

She stated that the items distributed will go a long way in giving relief to the less privileged among the pregnant women in the health center who could not afford the basic delivery items, while she however seek more support from the club.

Also speaking, one of the beneficiaries of the project, Kaosarat Ajani appreciate and prayed for the club for the gesture.
