ORGANISERS of this year’s The Industry Summit (TIS), The Industry Newspaper and 789marketing.ng, have explained that the theme of the summit: Sustainable Marketing for Growth’ is informed by the need to lend a voice to the ongoing debate surrounding the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations members in 2015, which created 17 world Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the active participation of the nation’s private sector.
The convener, TIS, Mr. Goddie Ofose, Convener, stated that this year’s edition of the summit is designed to bring together industry leaders across the continent in all sectors in the quest to rev up conversations that will enhance the nation’s business, economy and communication space.
He added that the summit, a two-pronged event, comprising a summit and awards (The Industry Awards 5.0), has become imperative in today’s ever-evolving world since debating whether to incorporate sustainability into business strategy is no longer an option.
“Accordingly, a growing number of organizations are integrating sustainability into their business strategy—realizing they can do well by doing good. In a recent McKinsey survey, 70 percent of respondents said their companies have a formal governance of sustainability in place. But what exactly does it mean to be “sustainable” in business?
“Therefore, we have carefully selected professionals and experts to deliberate on the subject matter, highlight challenges and proffer solutions where private and public sectors could take lessons from and improve upon whatever they have been doing,’ Ofose added.
He added that the summit, scheduled for May, this year, in Lagos, will feature a keynote speaker, two guest speakers and some exciting panel sessions featuring some contemporary professionals in the nation’s Marketing communication space.
