THE coordinator of the Standard Bearers Islamic Organisation (SBIO), Abuja chapter, Idris Jumah, has stated that body’s efforts on indigent Muslim students are to discover hidden talents among such youths.
He stated this at the 2021 Career Mentorship Programme (CMP) examination for indigent students in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to him, indigent students are a neglected category in the society despite the abundance of talents in them which often results in many of them not being financially buoyant to advance their academic careers.
“This is the gap the SBIO is bridging through the annual CMP program across states of the country,” he said.
Jumah appreciated parents and teachers who, he noted, had collaborated with the organisation to ensure a hitch-free examination this year.
“For this year, we started with the online registration in August and ended with a manual application in the middle of September 2021. In the end, we were able to register 438 students through the collective efforts of members of the committee’, he stated.
He added that 290 students took the examination which centered on Mathematics and English Language.
Participants at the programme were drawn from senior secondary schools across the FCT with successful applicants to be rewarded with scholarship into higher institutions of learning.
