The All Progressive Congress (APC) Unity and Reconciliation Forum in Zamfara state has explained why they coordinated Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar’s maternity expenses support programme in the state, saying it’s a state-wide programme with the aim to reduce maternal mortality.
The support programme was flagged off with free test to pregnant women across Zamfara state, as part of efforts to assist less privileged women in the state.
Yari’s maternity expenses support programme which is under the coordination of APC Unity and Reconciliation Forum in Zamfara state, was officially launched at Talata Mafara General Hospital in the state.
According to the chairman of Zamfara state APC Unity and Reconciliation Forum Alhaji Mande Umar said Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s maternity expenses support programme would cover all the 14 local government areas in the state.
He explained that the programme of free maternity support would continue for every pregnant woman up to the time of her delivery in the state.
He emphasized that the A.A Yari maternity expenses support programme was further supported by Member Federal House of representative, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Bungudu who donates delivery kits to each of the pregnant woman in the state.
“The delivery kits includes baby care, soap, detergent, baby bathing kits, antiseptic, Vaseline ,towel, pampers and napkin,” he said.
Mande Umar revealed that the programme was kick start at Talata Mafara and would continue at General hospitals and health care centers across the state.
He said, “I want to assure our pregnant women across the state that,we have put our members at various health centers including general hospitals who would continue to monitor free pregnancy test and register women that would benefit from gesture upto the time of delivery.”
