Why we conferred chieftaincy title on Indian philanthropist — Ogun community

The Baale of Ayetoro Mupin Aduran town in Ota, Ogun State, High Chief Kazeem Ayinla Olaonipekun, on Saturday, under the authority of the Olota of Otta, His Royal Majesty, Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege, conferred the chieftaincy title of Amuludun of Ayetoro Mupin Aduran on Mr Sanjay Kumar Jah because of his immense contribution towards the development of the town.

Speaking during the chieftaincy title conferment ceremony, High Chief Olaonipekun explained that aside from numerous support towards the needy through his foundation, Narayan Charity Foundation, Mr Sanjay Kumar Jah has also helped in grading and repairing many streets in Ayetoro Mupin Aduran town.

According to High Chief Olaonipekun, “Since Sanjay Kumar Jah came to Nigeria in 2010, he has always been involved in developmental projects in his host community.

“In our community, he has supported the old and needy with financial assistance. He supports schools in our community with books and stationery support.

“After appraising all his efforts, we decided to confer this chieftaincy title to encourage him to do more.”

In his thank-you message, Mr Sanjay Kumar Jah promised not to relent in his philanthropic gestures.

In the words of the Indian philanthropist, “Since I arrived in Nigeria, my relationship with Nigerians has made me come close to a people with diverse cultures.

“In 2019, I established my company, Narayan Charity Foundation and we have supported the sick who couldn’t afford drugs with pharmaceutical drugs.

“We have shared foods, supported schools with books and stationery. We have helped to rehabilitate roads in Ayetoro Mupin Aduran town in Ota, Ogun State.

“We also do a ‘Food for Life’ campaign targeting orphanages and providing work skills for young adults like information technology skills amongst others.”

Present at the chieftaincy conferment ceremony were other traditional rulers within the Ota-Awori community.
