Why we closed female hostel — MAAUN

Published by

The Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has closed the Al-Ansar Indabo hostel due to non-compliance with the university’s rules and regulations.

According to the university’s President, Prof. Mohammad Israr, the hostel’s owners failed to adhere to the welfare of students, providing poor water and power supply.

The decision aligns with the university’s strict policy against immorality and ensures students’ well-being.

Prof. Israr emphasized that the university has to protect its reputation built over 13 years and stands by ethics to ensure good conduct and welfare of its students.

The closure is in the best interest of parents and students, and all affected students are strongly directed to vacate the hostel immediately after the completion of the first-semester examination.

The hostels are privately owned facilities approved by the institution to accommodate students.

This action follows a similar closure of the Insktaf hostel last week due to criminal activities posing a security threat to students.

The university advises students and parents to seek accommodation through officially approved options listed by the Office of the Vice President Campus Life to ensure safe and secure housing alternatives.

The university’s management is collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure total compliance and maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any form of immorality among university students.
