Why some gospel artistes left Christ Embassy — Pastor Chris

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of Christ Embassy, has spoken out about why some gospel artistes parted ways with his church.

According to Oyakhilome, the musicians prioritized fame and financial gain over their spiritual calling, leading to a worldly approach to worship.

Oyakhilome expressed concern that music had lost its essence as a form of true devotion, with the church becoming more like a party place than a prayer place.

He noted that while these artistes led praise and worship, they often skipped prayer sessions, indicating a lack of genuine commitment to serving God.

The pastor also stated that many of the musicians began charging fees for their performances, prioritising personal success over spiritual duty.

Despite initial attempts to correct their path, Oyakhilome met resistance, leading to a parting of ways.

“I did at the beginning and celebrated them, but when I changed, they refused to change with me, so I had to let them go.

“God was getting my attention, telling me this was not the way. I told them the Lord wanted us to do the right thing.

“They had become too popular, and because they were making even little money… do they know what big money is? The little money they were making was too attractive to them, so they didn’t want to follow me. So they made a detour. I hope they all repent. They are not worship leaders,” Pastor Chris revealed in a video clip circulating online.
