Why Olamide rejected N100m for verse — Tiwa Savage

Popular Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has explained why Olamide, the iconic rapper and YBNL boss, turned down a staggering N100 million she offered him for a song verse.

Tiwa said Olamide rejected the money because Olamide said he considers her like a sister and understands how challenging it is for a woman to succeed in the industry.

She shared this revelation on the X app (formerly Twitter), stating, “Olamide rejected the 100 million I offered him for a verse.”

She wrote, “I was talking to his management; I didn’t want to talk to him directly because he would want to do it for free. I spoke to his team, and they charged 100 million. I was willing to pay.”

“When Olamide asked them who the artiste was, they said me, and he just said NO. He wouldn’t take it. He said I am his sister, and he knows how difficult it is to make it in the industry as a woman. That’s how he denied the money, and guess what? He gave me the verse for free. Good people exist, and Badoo is one of them.”

Tiwa Savage featured Olamide in her hit song “Commona,” alongside producer Mystro Sugar.

The track is part of Tiwa’s album, “Water & Garri,” which accompanied her debut film of the same name, both released in May 2024.

Olamide, also known as Badoo, undoubtedly added depth to the song with his melodious voice and captivating rap bars, delighting fans and music lovers alike.

In an intriguing turn of events, Tiwa Savage revealed that Badoo provided the song verse for free, declining any payment for the track.
