The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) of Nigeria has said its introduction of the Mega Awards Gala into its calendar was informed by the need to celebrate dedication and excellence, two key factors that define the human resources (HR) profession.
The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the institute, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, stated this at the inaugural edition of the Awards held recently in Lagos.
He described the event as a celebration of individuals and organisations that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in advancing the people management agenda.
“The Mega Awards Gala distinguished itself with its unparalleled glamour and grandeur, underscoring the importance of recognising excellence within the HR community.
“As the apex and only recognised body for HR management in Nigeria, the CIPM remains committed to honouring and celebrating individuals and organisations that continue to drive the profession forward,” he stated.
Congratulating the awardees, the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Reverend Collins Edebiri, explained that the awardees were arrived at after meticulous screening and processing by the committee.
Edebiri stated that the awards, which were in different categories, from legacy and lifetime achievements to leadership excellence, innovation, creativity, and service excellence, represented an acknowledgement of the diverse facets of excellence within the profession.
“We made sure the selection process was meticulously conducted to ensure fairness and transparency. Nomination was open to all, allowing the community to nominate those who have truly made an impact.
“Notable awardees include esteemed organisations such as MTN, Total Energies, Lagos State Government, Shell, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Shuttlers, and Seamless HR, recognised for their exceptional business leadership and unwavering support and partnership with the Institute,” he stated.
One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his exemplary leadership and steadfast support for the people management profession.
Founding fathers of the institute, such as Pa Azuka Diali, the late Reverend (Dr) Samuel Odunaike, and Pa Soboye Lasisi Adewale, among others, were also celebrated for their pioneering efforts at the institute with the presentation of the prestigious Legacy Award.
