The management of FoodCo Nigeria has ascribed the growing attention the city of Ibadan has continued to get from investors in retail business to the city’s huge population of residents, and vast expanse of land, which have continued to enhance business growth.
The retail company also noted that it is over 1.3 million inhabitants, making the ancient city a huge market, that is yet to be fully explored by retail businesses.
The company’s Head of Innovation &Growth and Business Transformation, Funmi Aiyepeku, stated that the new outlet, commissioned at Adegbayi, recently, in commemoration of the company’s 42nd anniversary, demonstrates FoodCo’s readiness to explore every opportunity provided by the ancient city to bring quality products and services to the people.
She stated that though the business had established flagships in Abeokuta and Lagos, it would continue to explore growth opportunities in Ibadan, and positively impact its residents.
Aiyepeku explained that the Adegbayi outlet, the 20th in the series, demonstrates the company’s resilience, in the face of strong economic headwinds, its enduring belief in the Nigerian market and its dedication towards serving its diverse community of stakeholders.
She added that besides exciting its teeming customers, the company had, in the past few years, engaged with over 700 local suppliers, and provided access to market for many small businesses, in the city.
“We believe one of the challenges facing small businesses in the country is having unfettered access to the market. And this is what we’ve been able to provide for those businesses over the years, throughout our different outlets, spread across Ibadan, Abeokuta and Lagos.
“At this period of great shifts in the market, we have remained unwavering in our resolve to redefine modern retail in Nigeria by fostering a new model based on customer-focus, innovation and community partnerships,” she added.
