The immediate past governor of Kogi state, Capt Idris Wada, has said that he was seeking a return as the governor of the state because of the hardship and suffering that the people of the state had been subjected to since the coming of the present administration in the state.
The former governor also said the well being, progress and development of Kogi citizens were part of the reasons why he has accepted to contest the governorship election.
Wada stated this when he officially declared his intention to seek reelection during a meeting with the members of the state executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to him, no reasonable Kogi indigene would fold his hands and allow the unimaginable suffering of Kogi people, saying the people deserved a better deal.
He, however, charged the members of the state executives of the party see the forthcoming November governorship election as a defining moment and a turning point for the state.
Wada added that as a former governor of the state he has learnt and known so much that catapult the state’s all round development if elected.
The former governor, who noted that within the available resources to his administration, he completed of inherited projects and paid of salaries promptly, said the next governor of the state should be chosen based on capacity and experience.
He added that his aspiration is about the people who now see suicide as an option.
According to him, the next governorship election present to the people another lifeline, saying his administration made transparency, accountability and honesty its watchword.
He disclosed that the peoples decision in who fly the party’s flag is crucial to making education, health care delivery affordable and infrastructure development central to the people, urging the party executives to create a level playing field that would allow for a candidate that is passionate in actualising the dream of a better and enviable Kogi fly the party’s flag.

The PDP aspirant disclosed that it would be suicidal if Kogi people mess up the only opportunity left in choosing a purposeful leader as governor, insisting that their only lifeline should be well utilised and should not be traded off for peanuts and for anti-Kogi progress.
Wada assured that he would unlock Kogi’s rich potentials for the benefit of all if elected again, pointing out that coming from a disadvantaged position and from a humble background in life, his experience and integrity would ensure he strives for the development of human capacity and natural resources.
The former governor also disclosed that the provision of needed infrastructures and engagement of best hands and up to date technologies to put Kogi among the best economies remained his focus having learned a lot in his first term as governor.
