Why I re-recorded my sophomore album — Omah Lay

Nigerian sensational singer and songwriter Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has accused another Afrobeats artiste of stealing his idea to make their album which lead to him re-recording his sophomore album.

The Afrobeats singer, whose debut album ‘Boy Alone’ featured heavyweights like Justin Bieber and Tay Iwar, is regarded by many as one of the best Afrobeats projects of all time, and is expected to follow up with his sophomore album very soon.

Speaking on a podcast hosted by American podcaster Zach Sang, the Afrobeats star spoke about his 2023-released catchy tune ‘Holy Ghost,’ which he described as the template he wanted to use for his sophomore album. However, he decided to stop heading in that direction after an Afrobeats colleague stole that idea.

The 27-year-old made it known that the said artiste is someone he loves, which prompted him to share his vision with the person. However, the latter dropped an album five months later, using all the sounds Omah Lay had shared with him.

The award-winning star expressed that he was pissed about the fact that he trusted the colleague but was stabbed in the back and had to go back to the drawing board to remake his album, which he described as a project that will be “the greatest Afrobeats album of all time.”

To build anticipation for his upcoming album, expected to be titled “Clarity of Mind”, Omah Lay has released a new song titled ‘Moving,’ which is poses to be an instant smash.
