Why I offset N30m tax debt of Osun East APC candidates — Ogungbangbe

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun, Dr. Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe, has conveyed that he settled Tax backlog totaling about Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000.00) of all candidates of APC from Osun East Senatorial District in the forthcoming local government elections due to the rising profile of the party in the state.
The Chairman, Aviation Fuel Marketers Association of Nigeria, Ogungbangbe, recently cleared the tax debts of about 145 APC chairmanship and councilorship candidates in the forthcoming local government polls from Osun East.
Ogungbangbe, who hails from Iloko-Ijesa, said the belief in the strength of APC to regain power in Osun by 2026 was a major motivation for him to commit huge amount of money into paying the amount for the party’s flagbearers.
The businessman turned politician, who commended mutual respect and peace in the fold of Osun APC, expressed readiness to commit more resources into helping the party maintain stability.
He also charged the party members to bury their differences and work for its victory in future polls.
“Why I paid for tax backlog totaling about N30m of all APC candidates in Osun East Senatorial in the forthcoming local government polls? To respond to this, I would say, It is not hidden, the party is in ascendancy.
We are moving up. The prospect is there for APC in Osun.
“I want the best for my state and I cannot but join any movement that can lead to emancipation of the state. I paid for our candidates because of my belief in APC.
‘I have a firm belief that we are going back to government at the state level in 2026.
“Paying for our candidates Tax backlog is my own contributions towards keeping the party intact and in good shape going into the poll.
“I am sure we are going to have a good outing,” Ogungbangbe said.
Commenting on the state of infrastructure in Osun, the international business man said conscious efforts must be made to improve what is currently obtainable across the state, in terms of infrastructural amenities.
According to him, only the APC currently has the caliber of people that could turnabout the fortune of Osun in its fold, calling on the residents to find a way of returning the party to government in 2026.
