POPULAR radio presenter, Mrs Folake Otuyelu, who made waves with her spectacular presentation of the Yoruba newspaper reviews on Splash FM, a radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State, has revealed reasons for her sudden departure from the airwaves.
Speaking to WWW from the United States of America, she said she left Nigeria, following repeated threats to her life by some politicians.
She stressed that the decision to flee abroad became necessary after several attempts considered life-threatening at the climax of the 2015 general election.
“My intention was just to go for my annual leave when I left Nigeria for America in October 2017. That has been my usual practice. Before then, my newspaper review programme had become popular but not without irking some politicians, religious bodies and certain individuals who felt some news were not favourable to their agenda. For me, it was a job but before I left Nigeria last year, I was attacked three times. I narrowly escaped the third time and that was why I quickly bought my ticket and left Nigeria in a jiffy,” she said.
