Why I am most qualified to ascend Aseyin throne — Prince Olawumi

One of the candidates for the throne of Aseyin of Iseyin, Prince Abdulkabir Adetola Olawumi, has said that going by the standard of parameters used in the selection of the new Aseyin of Iseyin, he possesses the highest grades among all of the candidates.

Olawumi, who is from the Osolalu royal family of the Akando ruling house, stated this in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Iseyin on Monday.

He said, In terms of education, exposure, and civilization, as well as the outcome of the consultation of the oracle, I am most favourably favoured, and there are proofs in this regard. Aside from my qualifications, the Osolalu family is also qualified to ascend the throne of Aseyin of Iseyin.

“Let me also state that we have three ruling houses, namely Akando, Olugbile, and Majaro. Immediate Past Aseyin, Oba Ganiyu Ajinase Oloogunebi, was produced by the Olugbile ruling house, while his predecessor was produced by the Majaro ruling house. Apparently, it is the turn of Osolalu’s ruling house to ascend the throne.”

Asked whether his family is the only family from the Akando ruling house, Olawumi said “We have the Eyinade family; however, the family had produced three Aseyin in the past at the expense of Osolalu. Oba Adeyeri emerged in 1890; Tafa Oyebola ascended the throne in 1963; and Moshood Osuolale became Aseyin in 1978.

The person who was said to have been picked as the new Aseyin, Prince Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, is also from the Eyinade family. Osolalu has never produced one at all, so that is the reason I am coming out to say that now is the time for the Osolalu royal family to emerge as the new Aseyin of Iseyin.

“I hereby appeal to the Oyo State government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde to please wade into this matter by ordering an investigation into the questionable manner by which the exercise in selecting the new Aseyin was carried out.”
