Why I always remember HID Awolowo

Published by

It has been four years that Mama Hannah Dideolu Awolowo, the glamorous, dynamic, compassionate, meticulous and successful wife of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, answered the supreme call. She was the pillar to the Awolowo family since the demise of the sage.

Mama HID Awolowo was loved by many, I, inclusive. She was dedicated, committed, open-minded, supportive and prayerful to all her children, great and great grand children, including other people’s children.

Mama HID was part of those that sympathized with me and also prayed for me when I lost my father, Pa Jimoh Agboluaje, on December 14, 2009 at age of 63years. I was pleasantly surprised when the message of Mama HID was delivered to me.

Another benefit I derived was in 1996 when  I sat for the November/ December GCE examination in Ibadan but my result was withheld by WAEC without any reason given, as a young school leaver who was eager to go to the university, I picked up my pen and I wrote to Tribune. The said article was published by Tribune and as a result, WAEC released my result.

I thank Mama HID Awolowo and Chief Obafemi Awolowo; the good nature of both of them to many children of the underprivileged will continue to linger on forever and their achievements remain a legacy for us to build upon.

The couple can never be forgotten.

Jimoh Mumin Esq.,

Ibadan.
