Nigerian content creator, model and actor, Benjamin Bassey Effiong, popularly referred to as YallMeetBernie, has explained why he adopted ‘King of TikTok’ as his nickname on social media platform Tik Tok.
YallMeetBernie, also known as King of Tik Tok, is a young brand influencer, an all-round talent who is also gifted with an enchanting voice, is one of the fast-emerging young Nigerians with massive followership on social media. He has 1.7million followers on TikTok, in addition to 81million people who have liked his contents on the platform. King of TikTok has 240,000 followers on Instagram, but apparently, Nigerians are following the global trend of shifting more to the short-form video hosting company owned by ByteDance.
YallMeetBernie graduated from the department of mass communication of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH). He was raised in a family of four, which comprises his parents and his brother. Sadly, he lost his dad but it never finished his strength, nor taken away his vision to fulfill his dream of being a global star and entertainer.
The nickname ‘King of TikTok’ could also be strategic, to capture the attraction of millions of his fans and admirers. According to him, he has attained a commendable milestone as a content creator on TikTok, hence the endorsement, while also revealing what inspired him to do what he is doing.
“My nickname is king of TikTok and why the nickname is because I feel I’ve conquered a certain level on TikTok and the name fits. Growing up, I’ve always enjoyed watching my self. It was then I developed love for content creation and modelling/acting. Honestly, I do modelling and content creation better”,disclosed Benjamin Bassey Effiong.
YallMeetBernie, who is from Oron Local Govrtnment Area of Akwa Ibom State, disclosed that his mother was initially opposed to his choice of profession. However, the success and recognition he has achieved through dedication to his craft and creativity has convinced her to support him. King of TikTok has been involved in several projects for big brands, which have positively impacted and promoted his profile.
“Well, I have worked on many big projecta like Oppo, Itel, Indrive, Rida and musically I’ve promoted lots of sounds like Ogechi that’s trending now, and also salam by Neeja and many more. At first, my mum wasn’t cool with all of this and I told her to trust the process and I’m glad she did. So now we’re on the same page here,” said YallMeetBernie.
