Why Buhari missed APC NEC meeting — Aide

Published by

Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting was due to short notice, according to his spokesperson, Malam Garbi Shehu.

Shehu explained that the invitation to the meeting reached Buhari only a day before the event, making it impractical for him to travel from his hometown, Daura, to Abuja in time.

Despite his absence, Shehu emphasised that Buhari remains committed to the APC, as a founding member and two-time presidential candidate.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is not a caucus member of the party. He was supposed to attend the NEC meeting, but unfortunately, the invitation reached him only a day before the event. Even if he owned a private jet, he could not have made it in time,” Shehu stated.

The meeting was attended by key APC figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinbu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, and National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
