The whereabouts of a retired general manager of the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), Bashir Abdullahi, are still unknown going by the latest statement credited to Nigeria Police.
The Kano State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Thursday said the command has intensified efforts to rescue one Bashir Abdullahi, 65, of Sitti Village, Sumaila Local Government Area, Kano State who was kidnapped by unknown persons at his farm located at Barasa forest, Gomo Village, Sumaila LGA Kano State, a border town with Bauchi State.
DSP Kiyawa, however, disclosed that teams of “Operation Puff Adder” were deployed to rescue the victim and arrest of culprits.
The statement read, “On the 03/11/2021 at about 1630 hours, a report was received that one Bashir Abdullahi, ‘m’, 65 years old, of Sitti Village, Sumaila Local Government Area, Kano State was kidnapped by unknown persons at his farm, located at Barasa forest, Gomo Village, Sumaila LGA Kano State, a border town with Bauchi State.
“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed teams of Operation Puff Adder to rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.”
He further disclosed that the teams immediately swung into action.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim relocated to the farm inside the forest for about two weeks.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, has urged residents to continue to pray for the state and the nation, be cautious of their personal security and report any suspicious person or movement to the nearest Police Station.
