When University Press rewarded staff, customers’ loyalty

Published by

IT has become a tradition for the management of the University Press Plc to recognise and reward staff loyalty every year, and this year is no exception.

The foremost publishing company uses the opportunity to celebrate its staff and customers, who need to be encouraged in order to give their best to their jobs.

Speaking during this year’s staff and customers’ awards, the chairman of the company, Dr Lalekan Are, said the culture of celebrating, encouraging and rewarding the contribution of members of staff and customers was to sustain the University Press Plc’s goal of being a leading knowledge-based publishing firm in the country.

Dr Are admitted that the company was very fortunate to have staff members whose years of dedication had helped to lift the company to the enviable height it has attained today.

He said: “Loyalty to service has been instrumental in the company’s growth and accomplishment over the years.

“The company recognises the wonderful job everyone is doing, and hopefully, will continue to do, and the reward for your dedication is to motivate you to do more and encourage those who are relatively new to look forward to a day like this,” Dr Are said.

The chairman then awarded prizes to the company’s best customers, as well as best staff, and the long service awards.

In his remarks on the occasion, the managing director of the company, Mr Samuel Kolawole, charged members of staff to continue to work hard in order to take the company to the next level.

Mr Kolawole further urged staff to build their careers in the company, as the University Press Plc cared about the welfare and wellbeing of staff.

On the best staff award, Mr Kolawole said that Mr Adegbenga Moses Oni’s performance in the 2017/2018 financial year automatically made him the best staff, after winning the same award in the 2016/2017 financial year.

The managing director charged other members of staff to work harder so that they could also be recognised.

Also, for the best staff category, Miss Kafilat Omolola Salami and Sunday Olise came first and second runners-up after Mr Oni.

Three customers of the company were recognised for their outstanding performance in the 2017/2018 financial year. They are Mr I.A Alli, an Ibadan-based agent; Mr Chris Ogbole, also based in Ibadan, and Mr A.E Olaleye, who is based in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

For the long service award, staff who had put in 10 to 25 years in the company were recongised, including the firm’s Executive Director, Publishing, Mrs Folakemi Omobola Bademosi, who has put in 15 years in the service of the company.

In her vote of thanks on behalf of the awardees, Mrs Bademosi commended the company’s board and managing director for creating a conducive environment for staff to thrive.

Mrs Bademosi also appreciated the consistency in organising the event to recognise the contribution of staff to the development of the company, while pledging that staff would continue to work hard towards taking the company to higher heights.
