When Lagos thrilled UNWTO delegates to a night with Fela

The 61st UNWTO/CAP Meeting brought out a resounding celebration of Nigeria cultural essembles in dance, music, arts and entertainment as it displayed the finest and exportable socio-cultural potential of this great nation.

in its dynamic approach, Lagos State which is the tourism rave of the moment came up with a spectacular act at the command performance of the 61st UNWTO meeting held recently in Abuja, as its presentation did not only treat foreigners from 50 African countries and the world to a gala of magnificent display, but also a night of visual storytelling of Nigerian music and entertainment icons with a special rendition on a renowned Afro beat maestro, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

The segment of the command performance that captured the attention of the audience was the Fela and the Kalakuta queens staged by Bolanle Austen Peters Production, a fantastic export feature Lagos State has frequently used to thrill audience.

The performance resurrected Fela’s life, time and many of his remarkable thoughtful hits albums and lifestyle reminisce which attracted admirations from the audience.

Uniquely, the energetic Commissioner of Culture, Tourism, Lagos State, Mr Steve Ayorinde, made a flamboyant outing with its well packaged short documentary that mirror the multiplicity of Lagos as the socio-cultural and entertainment capital of Nigeria, with a whole lot of adventure, business, leisure and hospitality activities to explore.

According to Ayorinde, Lagos State is very unique in the tourism and entertainment landscape of Nigeria and we have stepped up our games to the reality at making it a key factor in promoting and marketing Nigeria to the world.

“As a matter of fact, the story of Nigerian entertainment and film industry is not complete without linking it with Lagos because it holds the ace in history as the entertainment hub of Nigeria.”

However, Lagos State did not only stop at entertaining but also invited the UNWTO delegate to savor the hospitality, architecture, infrastructure and natural splendour of the emerging mega city in Africa, the Eko Atlantic.
