When is my ovulation date?

Published by

Dear Yemisi,

I am a married woman. I got married precisely nine months ago.

I have a question that I will want you to answer by educating me. I have discovered overtime that I have a 30-day menstrual cycle. I really want to know the actual date when I am ovulating.

I am asking this because I am yet to be put in the family way since I got married nine months ago.

I took clomid three times.

Dear Anonymous,

From time immemorial, menstrual periods are different from woman to woman, month to month and vary with age.

Pregnancy is technically only possible during the five days before ovulation through to the day of ovulation.

These six days are the ‘fertile window’ in a woman’s cycle, and reflect the lifespan of sperm (5 days) and the lifespan of the ovum (24 hours).

If you have sex six or more days before you ovulate, the chance you will get pregnant is virtually zero going by findings. If you have sex five days before you ovulate, your probability of pregnancy is about 10 per cent.

Ovulation happens about two weeks before the next expected period. So if your average menstrual cycle is 28 days, you ovulate around day 14.

If you have shorter cycles, say 21 days between periods, ovulation happens on day and the most fertile days are days 5, 6, and 7.

If you have 28 days between periods ovulation typically happens on day 14, and the most fertile days are days 12, 13, and 14.

If you have longer cycles, say 35 days between periods, ovulation happens on day 21 and the most fertile days are days 19, 20, and 21.

All you need to watch out for if you don’t seem to get the tabulations above is to begin to watch out for these signs so as to know when you are about to ovulate.

Look out for pains at every particular time of the month, whitish vaginal discharge, increased body temperature occasioned by surge in your hormones among other symptoms that you have never paid attention to because of anxiety.

The likelihood of actually becoming pregnant is dramatically increased if you have intercourse every other day especially during the five days before you ovulate which is referred to as ‘fertile window’ and not a daily affair because science has proved that it takes a while for quality sperm that can fertilise the egg to be produced.

Who recommended Clomid for you? According to findings, Clomid is a medication that is commonly used for the treatment of infertility. Have you been found to be infertile?

Clomid is even said to induce ovulation in women that do not develop and release an egg (ovulate) on their own.

My dear sister, you must be mindful of drugs you take especially if they are not prescribed for you by your doctor. I mean my word DOCTOR not just any fake medical practitioner in your community please.

Don’t be too anxious inasmuch as you have not been pronounced infertile. At God’s own time, He will answer you.
