The 47th anniversary with the theme: Put on the whole armour of God, took a new dimension, as the teenagers took over the event to the amusement of everyone. Aside various performances, including Bible recitations, choreography, cultural songs and newscast, among others, which thrilled the congregation; they also took charge of the sermon.
The preacher, Temiloluwa Oyelami, in his sermon reminded all Christians that they were soliders of Christ, charging them to always be on the alert to fight and overcome the Satan.
He also charged Christians to remain focus, obedient and keep to God’s commandment in order to be on the winning side.
“However, it is important to know how we can put on the armour of victory, which includes the garment of righteousness, silk of truth, sword of the spirit, shoes of gospel and the shield of faith. Above all, we need the Holy Spirit and power of God to put on the armour of God,” he stated.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of gifts and trophies to the best students and winners of the annual children department examination. The church came alive when Elizabeth Omieza was announced the overall best student, while CAC Oke-Ife, Agbowo was presented with the grand trophy, as the overall winner of the 2018 children anniversary.
According to the chief examiner and coordinator, Pastor Sam Ogungbemi, 280 children from 63 churches across all categories that participated in the examination, just as he noted that the goal behind the exercise is gradually been achieved, as more churches are beginning to show interest.
“About 10 churches joined this year’s competition and we are delighted about the development, as it is helping us to fulfill our evangelism purpose and also expanding the platform in giving our children eternal qualities and propagating the gospel. The exercise is also exposing every child to study their Bible” he added.
The patron of the association, Pastor Joseph Oladejo, expressed his delight over the performances of the children, adding, “I thank God for the success of the event and I also appreciated all the children. They have indeed made us proud and also given us the confident that they would be good ambassadors of Christ within church and the outside world. I also want to acknowledge the effort of their teachers, because the children have been able to portray what they have been taught.”
In her remarks, the matron of the association, Deaconess Christie Odunranti, noted that the theme of the anniversary is apt in letting them be aware that everything Jesus said about His second coming of Christ is right here.
“They can also witness it and this means that they as children should learn to know that there is a place that we are all going immediately Jesus Christ comes. And to be a candidate of that place we must run away from all the atrocities vices of the society I order to gain heaven and not end our journeys in life in hell,” she said.
