When Amarachi met Osinbajo

Winner of the maiden edition of Nigeria’s Got Talent, Amarachi Uyanne, popularly knowns as Amarachi, has continued to express her talent beyond music and dance as she’s known for.

Having won the music and dance reality contest some years back, the young and talented violist has been an advocate for talent-education development among school children as she takes the campaign to various schools across the country.

At the just-concluded South South innovation hub inaugurated by Vice President, Professor Yemj Osinbajo at the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), in Benin City, Amarachi’s vision to liberate youths, whose creative talent had been held down by conventional theories and speculation, came to the fore.

Recall that the vice-president during his two-day visit to the state, launched the South-South Innovation Hub and performed groundbreaking of the 1800-Emotan Gardens project.

Discussing with Osinbajo at the event, Amarachi who is also a judge at the ongoing African Hidden Talent show, said she would love to bridge the gap between talent development and education, adding that ‘’if the best students in academic are allowed to attend talent competitions, it would help in shaping the minds of other young people and bringing their hidden talents to life,” she said.

She added that her vision was to see other kids develop and use their talents to add value and create wealth while still doing well in school like her.

“I am always heartbroken each time I see young people like me abandoning school because they want to pursue their talent. My vision is to share with young ones the idea of my academy that bridged the gap between developing one’s talent and also doing well in school,”she said
