After a successful appearance at the maiden edition of the VERA awards in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he won two awards Fuji Album of The Year and Song of The Year, the Ibadan-based Fuji musician, Taye Currency, is set to go a step up in his career.
He is to join other big players in Lagos, the entertainment capital of Africa.
Speaking with R, Taye said defeating Pasuma, Osupa and Shefiu with the album entitled: Favour & Achievement in the Fuji Album of the Year category was a surprise as his co-competitors performed creditably well on their own.
“I never expected it, but the truth is I really put in a lot of hard work. I have been trying to be at the top of my game, especially in the past four years. I wasn’t doing that for awards; I was doing it for my fans, those who have kept me relevant in the industry,” he said.
Taye has promised to release even better songs in 2019. “I won’t rest on my oars. I will continue to do what I love doing best, which is making music. I also plan to get busy in Lagos. Ibadan is my home and I have been accepted there. Now, I have to get more action in Lagos, but not to the detriment of my base,” he added.
He also won the Song of The Year with the track entitled: Heritage.
