Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu on Thursday assumed office as the 23rd Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), taking over from Brigadier General YD Ahmed.
Tribune Online reports that General Nafiu was recently appointed to the position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

General Nafiu hails from Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State.
Before his appointment, he served as Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General OO Oluyede, and previously held the same position under the late Lt. General TA Lagbaja.
He holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, a Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, and a BSc in Geography from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
He has served as a unit adjutant twice, commanded artillery regiments three times (twice in the North-East theatre of operations), and held key administrative positions at Army Headquarters.
Nafiu has served in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Sudan, and South Sudan, including monitoring the South Sudan Independence Referendum in 2011.
In 2008, he was the NYSC Camp Commandant in Kaduna State, giving him direct experience with the scheme before assuming leadership.
He has trained at top military institutions, including the Indian Army War College, Army War College Nigeria, and the US Army War College.
Nafiu previously served as a Director of Staff (instructor) at the Army War College Nigeria, demonstrating his expertise in military training and education.
