Former drummer of My Chemical Romance, Robert Cory Bryar, popularly known as Bob Bryar, has passed away at the age of 44.
His body was discovered at his home in Tennessee on Tuesday, 26 November 2024, just two days before Thanksgiving.
According to TMZ, law enforcement authorities do not suspect foul play, noting that his possessions, including musical equipment and firearms, were untouched.

Born on 31 December 1979, Bob Bryar began his career as a sound technician for the band The Used. It was during this time that he met the members of My Chemical Romance while they were on tour together.
Bryar studied sound engineering at the University of Florida in the United States, which laid the foundation for his career in music.
In 2004, Bryar joined My Chemical Romance, replacing their original drummer, Matt Pelissier. His entry came shortly after the release of the band’s second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge.
Bryar played a key role in the success of My Chemical Romance. Notably, he contributed to their critically acclaimed album The Black Parade, released in 2006, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In March 2010, My Chemical Romance announced Bryar’s departure. The split was described as a painful decision for both sides. Later, Bryar revealed that he struggled with feelings of depression and anger following the departure.
After leaving the band, Bryar retired from music and transitioned into a career in real estate. He also dedicated much of his time to animal rescue efforts and charity work.
Bryar became actively involved in dog rescue charities and sanctuaries after his departure from the band. In June 2021, he auctioned his Helena-themed drum kit on eBay, donating the proceeds to the Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Franklin, Tennessee.
Known for his hard-hitting drumming style, Bryar was a significant figure in the emo and alternative rock scene during his tenure with My Chemical Romance.
In his later years, Bryar largely stepped away from the music industry. He focused on his real estate career and continued to dedicate himself to animal rescue and advocacy.
On 26 November 2024, Bryar was found dead at his home in Tennessee at the age of 44. Authorities reported no suspicion of foul play, though the cause of death remains under investigation.
