Women Matters

What sex would you want your first child to be and why?

The desire for a specific sex for a child stems from many motivations. Sometimes, couples differ on the sex they want their first child to be – they may argue over it or even pray about it. This kind of desire stirs emotions, ignites contemplation, and sparks spirited conversations. Below are the responses of our contributors on this issue:

First, it is important to note and remember that every child is a blessing, regardless of their s3x. It is best to focus on raising a happy, healthy and well-rounded child rather than placing emphasis on their s3x. To be honest, I have wanted a female as my first child because I want to do all the mother/daughter things our mothers did for us like dressing us up in pretty dresses, making our hair, instilling good virtues in us, and also to give her the opportunities and show her all the love I never had as girl-child. The bonding between mother and daughter is one of the most precious things. As she grows, her mother would be able to connect with her more and could soothe her fears, and concerns. Her mother could help her with her ambitions and give her the support only another woman could. All this makes bonding easier.

This is a tricky one because the first thing I would want is to be blessed with a healthy child, irrespective of their s3x. But if there is a chance to choose, I would want a boy simply because I never had a brother while growing up. So, having a boy around me would make up for a brother.

Any s3x is okay, but I would prefer a male child as my first child. I love their stunning look after you dress them. Their clothes might be expensive compared to female children, but no problem, I love it that way. They might be stubborn and troublesome, but trust me, they are caring and loving if you bring them up with love.

I would love my first child to be a male. What reasons do I have than saying I love it? Before, I get jealous of my brother for how affectionate my mum has been with him. She displays it at every given opportunity, though that was not the reason I want a male child. It was because of the phenomenon that mothers and male children have that special bond whilst the fathers and daughters share a similar bond too. I would love to experience that bond. It is hilarious that I have named him already, despite not being married.

I would like my first child to be a female because they fulfil specific roles within the family. One of the perceived benefits associated with having a female as the first child is their tendency to be emotionally expressive and nurturing. Daughters are often seen as individuals who could bring warmth and compassion to the family dynamics, fostering an environment of care and support. Daughters are role models, particularly in terms of taking on traditional maternal responsibilities. They are actively involved in maintaining a well-functioning home. Having one as a first child would be lovely.

I actually do not mind any s3x as my first child. However, I would prefer a male child first, then probably a female child next. Why? Older brothers are naturally protective of their younger ones. That is a good reason to prefer a male child as the first child. Female children are usually their father’s favourites and always very close to their fathers, likewise the other sex to their mothers. Imagine having a female child as your first and she takes away your husband.

I would prefer to have a female as my first child because I am still young and would like to have more time to interact and bond with her. I believe this would allow me to train her well and to impact important values and life lessons in her. I also think that having a female as a first child would be a wonderful opportunity to help her grow into a confident, independent, and compassionate young woman. Ultimately, what is most important to me is that my child is healthy and happy, regardless of their s3x.

I would want my first child to be a female. It has been one of my utmost wishes from childhood to be blessed with a lovely and healthy daughter as a first child because I feel daughters are easy to raise and nurture, and to serve as a good role model for the coming ones. A first female child has a tender heart. Another reason I would love to have a female as a first child is that they tend to care more for their parents in their youth and old age. They serve as the representative and assistants to their parents to the younger ones and also take care of the family.

I would like my first child to be a male. Men, in nature, are protective. They are meant to protect women. I would want him to protect his younger ones, females precisely. You cannot compare the energy and sense of responsibility of males to those of females. If one could raise him properly and he grows into a responsible man, it is a very good thing any parent would pray for.

I would go for the female s3x, and this is because as a professional fashion designer that focuses majorly on female clothing, my female child could model for my kiddie’s brand. Secondly, growing up in a family of five girls and a boy, I listened to how my father cherished female children, stating based on experience, that they show more empathy and care, which is evident in my family. A typical female child does not just measure care in terms of monetary value but would go the extra length to care for both parents, especially when they are aged. I have experienced a show of empathy in a situation where two female siblings ensured that their aged mother is well-taken care of by not just providing all her needs alone but also making sure to visit her every single day while going about their daily work.
