What Nigeria’s new minister in charge of economy should do to ease Nigerians’ pains – Abegunde

Nigerian-American and an expert in the area of economy, Mr Kayode Abegunde, has called on the new Minister of Finance, Budget, Planning and coordinator of the economy, Mr Wale Edun to embark on policies capable of reviving the country’s economy thereby ameliorating the sufferings of numerous Nigerians.

Abegunde, in a statement from his base in the United States of America, on Wednesday noted that Nigeria as a country at this point in time is dire need of minister who is well knowledgeable in the area of economy saying that he was sure this one the reason the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, picked Mr Wale Edun, who strongly believes is capable of delivering effectively.

The business administration guru, noted that for Edun, to succeed in this political dispension, he must try as possible to focus more on the loopholes which are constantly making the Nigerian currency, Naira to lose value.

He said:”If you look at the rate the Naira is depreciating in value, it is evident that things cannot in anyway augur well with the country’s economy.

“The new minister should advise Mr President to do something urgent about making at least one of the moribund refineries in the country work effectively. You see, if the price of petrol is not really on the high side, there will be ease of doing business, the economy of Nigeria will stabiiise and life will be easier to live for average Nigerians compared to what some of them are experiencing now.”

“The list are numerous, but I think if the two major ones I mentioned above are given needed attention, Nigeria will surely be a better place to live for its citizens particularly those who are facing serious hardship at the moment.”
