WGA creates Woman Bloom conference to position women for growth in 2024

AS part of efforts to position women for productivity and greater heights, a three-day conference has been put together by the Women’s Growth Academy (WGA), to encourage women work on themselves especially their minds in order to be able to adequately explore their potentials and be the best they can be.

The conference, which is one of the activities, put in place to mark the Women’s Growth Academy first anniversary, themed ‘Woman, Bloom!’ is primarily focused on creating a platform for women to identify their talents and opportunities available for growth and how to reach the greatest heights on all spheres and break perceived limitations on their way.

Speaking on the WGA conference, the convener, Brenda Unuavworho, said the Women’s Growth Academy is celebrating her first anniversary WGA Conference 2024 to allow women bloom in everything they work on and their personal lives.

She said, “We intend to have sessions that will get our participants to introspect and unearth all that has stopped them from blooming before now. we will teach sessions such as identity in Christ, how our mind rules us, visioning, wholesomeness and how it is never too late to bloom. We expect our participants to come away with a blue print of what to do this year to make them bloom into the women God has called them to be. “

The conference which is a virtual event that will span three days and is expected to hold on YouTube between January 26 and 28, is completely free but participants are expected to sign up to attend.

Speaking on what drives her, Unuavworho said, “I am especially heartbroken when I see women stay back helpless in abusive situations because they have no skills to fend for themselves, and so do not see leaving as an option. I therefore made it a life’s mission to equip as many women as possible with the skills they need to thrive no matter the circumstances they find themselves.”

For her, only a woman that engages herself constantly on self development in tune with current realities can make a headway in their endeavours as she believes that every woman has what it takes to be great in any chosen endeavour if they set their mind to it and put in the work without creating limitations in their minds.

She reiterated that there is a need to break mental limitations that many women have allowed to rule their mind based on the kind of socialisation process they went through as well as cultural and religious expectations that usually makes some to think they are limited.

“It is a given that self development is very important to all humans but even more so for women. As a woman, you dictate the tone of the home. You raise the world’s future. So if you do not self-develop, you are shortchanging your family and the world by your lack of skills. Self development also very importantly bestows on women the courage to stand up to discrimination and abuse,” she added.

She emphasised that culture, especially the African culture as a whole has done a lot to women negatively over the years as it has in the past tried to silence women and class them as those that should be seen and not heard. She however said this is in the past and the society has evolved beyond this, adding that it is the responsibility of women to move beyond this belief and ensure they work on getting the best out of life and attaining their potentials without giving excuses.

This, she said is the focus of the of the conference and she is optimistic that for participants, there will be a renewal of the mind and a zeal ro aspire for more and work on their weaknesses for greater exploits in the year 2024.
