THE New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) has said it has made tremendous progress in oil exploration in the Northestern states of Gombe and Bauchi.
The chairman of the commission, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu dropped the hint after chairing the 21st Annual General meeting of the company in Kaduna, at the weekend .
Dalhatu reaffirmed that since last year when the company and its technical partners, a British firm, were given the nod to explore the Benue trap, there had been a tremendous progress.
“Our quest has been steady. We have made a lot of progress because of the unflinching support we are receiving from the leadership of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),” he said.
He added that they were not able to explore in oil and gas and that “very soon we will begin commercial production.”
“Very soon we will resume oil exploration in other areas of the region,” he said.
Dalhatu who was a former Minister had earlier told the stakeholders that inspite of the harsh economic environment, the company was able to attain a modest progress under the year under review.
‘The company recorded was able to improve its net assets per share by 1.7 percent. From N18.5 to N18.8.,he declared.
Apart from that, he disclosed that the company had not regenerate in its corporate social responsibility drive.
‘Within the period under review, we have earmarked reasonable resources towards promoting young professionals in the region, students special projects as well as providing funds to the Musa Bello resource center and the donating to the IDP’s in the North East.
