We’ve invested over $600m in 7 years in Nigeria —NBC

THE Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), over the weekend, disclosed that  over $600million had been invested in its  plants and personnel in Nigeria, in the last seven years in order to ensure that the average Nigerian consumers of the brand gets value for their money.

Disclosing this during an interactive session with the media in Lagos, as part of the company’s 65th anniversary celebrations, the company’s Managing Director, Mr. George Polymenakos stated that the funds were used to upgrade the company’s various plants across the country, ensure  safer working environment and, at the same time, enhance its production  process, in tandem with what obtains  on the global scene.

He explained that the company had been able to survive the  nation’s tough business terrain in over six decades, as a result of its unflinching belief in the nation’s business environment and commitment to contributing its own quota to the development of the nation’s economy.

The NBC boss added that in spite of this present economic situation  in the country, the company would not embark on an upward review of its prices, so as not to further burden the already ‘over-burdened’ Nigerian consumers.

Besides, he argued that part of the company’s plans towards alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians, is its special empowerment programme, aimed at enhancing the financial fortunes of 5million Nigerian women by the year 2020.

“The focus of this program is to identify young women and set them up with products. By the end of 2015, we’ve been able to achieve something significant. We are still reaching out and ensuring that the program is sustainable,” he added.
