Chairman of Nigerian Community Greater Manchester, Alhaji Abiola Kumoye, has revealed that there are 200,000 Nigerians in the City of Manchester, United Kingdom.
Kumoye, who spoke exclusively with Tribune Online on Sunday, stated that the Organisation was set up by a group of students that came to the United Kingdom in 1945 precisely.
Abiola, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Lexicon Keys Limited, said the Group of students found themselves in difficult situations ranging from racism, support and others; Hence, the establishment of the community.
“We have 10 borough in Manchester. We have 200,000 Nigerians known to government.
“The Organisation was set up by a group of students that came to United Kingdom in 1945 precisely.
“They started finding themselves in difficult situations such as how to manage themselves, support themselves, fight racism and discrimination.
“So, they formed the organisation to look after the welfare of one another. And that was how set up the organisation.” Kumoye said.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians in diaspora to shun all forms of violence and be peaceful in whatever community they are.
According to him, such actions would further put them in a better light and positive perception.
