Senator Omo-Agege with Urhobo traditional rulers during the presentation of his stewardship

Traditional rulers in Urhobo land have expressed satisfaction with the performance of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in the outgoing 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The verdict came following Sen Ovie Omo-Agege’s presentation of his stewardship to the Urhobo traditional rulers at the palace of the Owhorode of Olomu kingdom, HRM Richard Ogbon Ogoni Oghoro 1 on Wednesday.

The traditional rulers, under the chairmanship of HRM, Ogoni Oghoro I, said from Omo-Agege’s stewardship, they have no doubt that he would do more for Urhobo nation if he was voted in for a second term at the National Assembly.

The Ovie of Mosogar, HRH, Samson Omene, Udurie 1, who spoke on behalf of the council of Urhobo Traditional Rulers said, “Your stewardship report is very impressing, ” and thanked Senator Omo-Agege for his “satisfactory” performance.

He said Omo-Agege has not only represented the interest of the Urhobo nation adequately, but also that of the generality of Nigerians.

He scored Senator Omo-Agege’s performance to be above 90 per cent and therefore, pledged support for his re-election.

Chairman of the council, the Owhorode of Olomu, acknowledged the points highlighted by Omo-Agege as his achievements.

He said Urhobo kings were aware of the bills he sponsored and co-sponsored which has benefitted the Nigerian people as well as the presence of his ongoing and completed constituency projects across Urhobo land.

But he charged Senator Omo-Agege, upon re-election, to take the task of sponsoring a bill for the inclusion of traditional rulers in Nigeria to play active role in partisan politics.

According to the Owhorode of Olomu, Omo-Agege was the first senator in Urhobo land to present a report of his stewardship to Urhobo traditional rulers “and with transparency in the accruable monetary value of constituency projects”.

Upon re-election, the centenarian encouraged Senator Omo-Agege to spread the constituency projects to other areas of Urhobo land that were yet to benefit.

He also tasked Omo-Agege to remind President Muhammadu Buhari of the issues raised by the Urhobo nation when they visited him in Aso Rock, adding that “if he considers them, we will be pleased with him.”

The Centenarian prayed for Senator Omo-Agege, saying, “As the father of Urhobo land, I give you my blessing for re-election and may all your desires be met.”

Urhobo traditional rulers, who were present at the meeting, included: the Ovie of Uvwie, Ughelli, Udu, Evwreni, the Odion-Ode of Uwheru, the Orovworere of Effurun-Otor, Ovie of Oghara, the Osuvie of Agbarho, Ogurimerime of Agbon, the Ovie of Mosogar and the Okobaro of Ughievwen.

Omo-Agege, an APC Senatorial candidate for Delta Central district, has a stiff opposition in Evelyn Oboro a current House of Reps member of the PDP at the 2019 general elections.
