We’re committed to providing world-class education – Taraba varsity

The Vice Chancellor, Taraba State university, Prof. Sunday Bako, on Friday, said the university is committed to providing a world-class education that prepares students for success in their chosen fields.

Bako disclosed this while speaking at the institution’s 16th matriculation ceremony in Jalingo.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the university’s desire is to ensure academic excellence and character development that prepares students to make meaningful contributions globally.

While encouraging students to emulate their lecturers’ examples, embrace self-discipline, self-care, and a strong work ethic as ambassadors of the university, he described the institution as a commurnity that values diversity, inclusivity and excellence.

“TSU is committed to providing a supportive and stimulating environment that allows students to grow, explore, and discover their passions. Our institution is committed to providing a world-class education
that prepares you for success in your chosen field.

“We are proud to be a student-centered institution, dedicated to grooming generational leaders. Our focus is on academic excellence, character development, and preparing students to make meaningful contributions globally,” the VC said.

Bako also commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the support that enables the university to achieve remarkable development.

“I am delighted to showcase the outstanding achievements of our esteemed institution, accomplished during my stewardship and under the guidance and support of our visitor, His Excellency, the Governor of Taraba State. Our achievements over the past year are a testament to this commitment.

“We have invested heavily in infrastructure development, constructing modern lecture theaters, laboratories, and student-friendly facilities, including healthcare and recreational centres. We have strengthened our academic programs, introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and enhanced staff development proerams for teaching and non-teaching staff.

“We have established new faculties, including the Faculty of Computing and Architectural Intelligence, and the Faculty of Religion and Philosophy, which will provide students with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in these critical areas.

“We have constructed an indoor sports complex, providing our students with state-of-the-art facilities for sports and recreation, and enhancing their overall university experience. This complex will serve as a hub for physical activity, teamwork, and school spirit,” he noted.

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university has fostered community engagement, partnering with local communities for outreach programs and promoting cultural exchange programs for students and staff.

“We have established international collaborations, partnering with international institutions for academic exchange, research collaborations, and joint projects.

“We have been recognised for our excellence, receiving awards such as the National Merit Award for Best Vice-Chancellor Northeast of the Year and the Best Performing Vice- Chancellor of the year award from Rotary Club l District 9125,” he stated.
