Green Energy United says it has made significant strides towards helping Nigeria achieve a greener future and boosting wealth creation.
Speaking in Lagos, Vice-President, Operations, Green Energy and Biofuels and Co-Founder of Kike Technologies, Ms. Lillian Aremu, highlighted several key initiatives the organisation has undertaken.
These include efforts to combat climate change, preserve biodiversity, and nurture new entrepreneurs through green fuel innovations and improved energy efficiency across different sectors.
She also addressed the economic challenges posed by high energy costs and emphasised the need for decisive government action to ensure a smooth transition to a clean and sustainable energy future.
She indicated that the organisation is diligently working on strategies to increase renewable energy capacity and to support the government towards significantly reduction of carbon emissions by the year 2030.
The organisation’s objective, according to her, is to support the government in achieving a target of 50 percent renewable energy by 2030, thereby strengthening Nigeria’s commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions.
She emphasised the urgent need for Nigeria to reduce its reliance on imported fuels and improve its approach to diversifying energy sources.
She pointed out that, similar to other West African nations, the effects of climate change and fluctuating fossil fuel prices render renewable clean energy sources the most viable, if not the sole, option for establishing sustainable and resilient economies in the long term.
She spoke on the company’s LPG gas generator conversion initiative and why it is good for the economy.
Her words: “Gas, particularly domestic / cooking gas (LPG) is often times more affordable than petrol. With the dual-fuel capability provided by a GEU LPG GenSet, you have the flexibility to switch between gas and petrol, optimising your fuel usage based on availability and cost.
“You can save up to 3 5 percent on fuel expenses compared to using only petrol. Gas generator’s exhaust emissions are much better than that of fuel generator, CO emissions decreased more than 90 percent, HC emissions decreased more than 70 percent. At the same time, because the gas combustion is soft, the working noise is reduced greatly than the fuel oil unit.”
According to her, the gas generator works softly, so the life of the machine correspondingly increases.
She added: “The installation of the LPG/CNG conversion kit is very simple and convenient. You can say goodbye to the incessant increase in petrol prices and long queues at the station.
She also pointed out that there are openings for people interested in the business.
“Any generator servicing mechanic can fix the Converter kit easily. We have good training system for people who want to go into the business.”
