We’ll reposition PDP to sack APC in Osun come 2018 ―Osun PDP caretaker chairman

THE newly appointed chairman of the caretaker committee, recently constituted to steer the ship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Mr Sarafa Tunji Isola, on Tuesday in Osogbo declared that “we would reposition the PDP to sack the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) come 2018 governorship poll in this state”.

He said with the genuine cooperation and spirit of unity displayed by all the members of the party in Osun despite seeming differences among the major stakeholders, stronger pedestal had been put in place to dislodge the APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial poll.

Speaking to journalists after holding an interactive session with the members of the PDP in both two party secretariats at Ogo Oluwa and Biket areas of Osogbo, Isola maintained that he was committed to further entrench internal democracy with the opposition party and ensure all-inclusiveness to rescue the state from the claws of poverty and frustration allegedly foisted by Governor Rauf Aregbesola-led administration.

While urging all the members not to rest on their oars in securing electoral victory for the PDP in the 2018 governorship election in Osun and general election of 2019, the caretaker chairman who is a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development between 2007 and 2008 said all hands must be on deck to salvage the ship of Nigeria.

He described his mission in Osun as a call to service and unwavering commitment to ensure that all the party members in the state are genuinely harmonised to deliver the governorship seat to the PDP and the good people of Osun State in 2018 governorship poll.

Isola implored the PDP members in Osun to begin in earnest far reaching mobilisation of the masses and the electorate ahead of what he described as a crucial poll in 2018, which he said, would determining the future of the state.

Among the PDP leaders at the stakeholders meeting held in Osogbo, which was presided over by the caretaker chairman include the former deputy governor of Osun State and the party’s flag bearer in 2014 governorship election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Olu Alabi, Barrister Kayode Oduoye, Prince Diran Odeyemi, Barrister Adeyemo Adetise, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and former chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa.

Others include Dr Bayo Faforiji, Prince Bola Ajao, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Adejare Bello, former Minister of Youth Development, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, Barrister Niyi Owolade.
