We’ll publish Osun LG election notice in Nigerian Tribune — OSSIEC boss

The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Abioye, Esq., hinted on Sunday that the notice of the local government elections and the timetable and schedule of activities for the local government elections in the state will be published on Monday, February 19, 2024, in the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers.

The commission chairman, who dropped the hint in a statement via Omoyemi Badru, the press secretary to the chairman, OSSIEC, said the commission has made arrangements to distribute free copies of the newspaper publication to each of the registered political parties having a presence for their intimate awareness, while the remaining copies will be for the commission’s members and administrative purposes.

He, however, assured that in the conduct of the local government elections, due process will be followed by the letters, and all relevant stakeholders will be carried along in a manner that guarantees transparency, credibility, and acceptability.

He stressed that the commission has booked and paid for 360 copies of the edition for the day on which the notice will be published as announced.

According to the statement, “This gesture by the OSSIEC Chairman is in furtherance of the resolve of the Commission to follow due process and to carry all relevant stakeholders along in the process.”

“The distribution template, according to the chairman, is 332 copies for each of the 332 wards across the state, where the same will be published in line with Section 28(3) of the Electoral Act, 2022, as well as Section 24(3) of the OSSIEC Law, 2022, which requires that the election notice be published in each of the wards in respect of which election is to be held.”
