We’ll pass 2018 budget May 8 ―Reps spokesman

THE Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Honourable Abdulrazak Namdas on Thursday disclosed that the 2018 budget of N8.6 trillion would be passed by the House on May 8.

The House Committee on Appropriation, he said would submit its report on the 2018 budget and promised that the report would also be considered by the House on same May 8.

Honourable Namdas dropped the hint while briefing with newsmen in Abuja saying that everything about the budget would be treated and passed on May 8.

According to him, “by the grace of God, we will lay the budget report on Tuesday next week and then try to pass it that same week. But we are laying it on Tuesday and I can assure you within that same week we are going to pass it”.

It will be recalled that a public hearing was jointly organized by both chambers of the National Assembly in March regarding the 2018 budget and since then much has not been heard about the passage of the proposed N8.6trillion budget.

On the proposed shut down of the House in protest of killings in the country, Honourable Namdas said that the leadership of the House would soon fix a date for it.
