As the nation is passing through trying moments, the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Umuahia Province, Abia State, last Sunday stated its resolve to dedicate its 2016 adoption/thanksgiving service to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and state governors to overcome the challenges confronting Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after the thanksgiving service, Special Senior Apostle and Chairman, Umuahia Ecclesiastical Province, F.N. Agbugba, noted that the present trend in Nigeria called for sober reflection as, according to him, only prayer could see the country through the present predicament.
He explained that apart from adoption and thanksgiving, the event will also mark the anniversary and will be an opportunity to take stock during the period under review.
Senior Apostle Agbugba further observed that the province, which was made up of seven districts, with seven urban branches attached to Umuahia headquarters gathered for the thanksgiving/service which, according to him, was used to address some administrative changes in both district and urban branches, aimed at focusing the Sacred Order to greater heights and to the service of God.
He also said that awards would be given to deserving elders and members of other churches who identified with them in one thing or the other.
He hinted that this year’s celebration was unique in the sense that a ten-man committee was appointed to oversee the activities of this year’s all-important anniversary set aside to appreciate God for his mercy on the people.
In his sermon, the guest preacher, Senior Apostle Anya Kalu, represented by Special Senior Apostle (Dr) Nkasiobi Kalu noted that the 2016 adoption/thanksgiving service was aimed at adopting children of God.
Kalu, in his message, urged Nigerians to keep faith and pray for the success of the country, noting that nothing was too difficult before God.
He said the 2016 theme “Adopted for the Fullness of Salvation” maintained that prayers answer all things, hence the celebration.
According to him, it took eternal sacred order of cherubim and seraphim 16 years before proclaiming adoptions, adding that in line with their principal believe it is expected of Christians to adhere strictly and commit to the service of God .
