Welfare of civil servants my top priority — Gov Bala

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has emphasized that the remuneration and welfare of civil servants are top priorities for his administration.

During a Ramadan Iftar (fast-breaking meal) held at the Government House in Bauchi on Saturday evening, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to ensuring career progression within the State’s civil service.

He also stated that his government recognizes the need to implement various reforms in the civil service to effectively and timely execute policies and programs that benefit the people.

According to him, “Civil service remained the best institution for any administration to succeed in the delivery of dividends of democracy, hence the need for my administration to be supporting the office of the Head of Civil Service in the training and retraining of the workforce to enhance productivity.”

The Governor added that, “You know, I was a civil servant before, and the civil service has helped me to achieve greater things in my life. Therefore I will do everything possible to restore the lost glory of the service in Bauchi.”

“I must thank our civil servants for giving their support in the implementation of my administration’s policies in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies,” he added.

He stressed that “All the ongoing reforms in the service are for the best interest of the state. At this point, I want to assure you of my support on reward and punishment system so that we can ensure discipline and productivity.”

On the implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme in the state, Mohammed said that his administration has since released the State Government’s contribution in order to fast track the implementation process.

On his part, the State Head of Civil Service, Barrister Sani Umar expressed gratitude to the governor for his administration’s outstanding support for the progress and development of the Service.

He reiterated the 100 percent unflinching loyalty and support of the workforce to achieve the desired objectives of the administration stressing that the Civil Service is part of the administration.
