Wedding photos: Sharia police moves against Buhari’s son’s fiancee

Published by

Kano State’s Sharia police, Hisbah, has prohibited the sharing of the pre-wedding photos of the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Nasir Ado Bayero, Zahrah, who is also the fiancee of Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The pre-wedding photos exposed the shoulders of Zahrah and this has attracted a lot of criticisms among Northerners who consider the pre-wedding pictures as not in tandem with Islamic doctrine and the culture of the Hausa/Fulani.

Also, many critics faulted Hisbah for allowing such immoral behaviour from the daughter of the revered traditional ruler and future daughter-in-law of President Buhari.

They argued that Hisbah is saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and sanctioning people that violated Islamic laws in the state and as such, the Emir’s daughter should be called to order.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the Kano Commander General of Hisbah, Harun Ibn-Sina, said the Emir’s daughter was not above the law and failed to set a good example for other Muslims.

According to him, the board has condemned Emir’s daughter’s actions as well as those of other Muslims who were sharing her pre-wedding photos and videos, saying they had sinned.

The BBC Pidgin said: “Sheikh Ibn Sina said di Emir daughter na Muslim wey no dey above di law and suppose lead by example if she wan blessings for her marriage. Di Hisbah boss also criticise pipo wey dey share di fotos and videos from di event saying na sin to share di materials.”
